About Us
The Wessex Wyverns emerged from the old Battlescar club that was set up by Paul who owned the Battlescar shop. The club continued with the Battlescar name until July 2006, when after a weekend at Battlegroup South, we decided to start afresh and rebrand the club.
A number of names were thrown around and in the end we settled on Wessex Wyverns. Since the rebrand the club has gone from strength to strength. We were forced to move location, which proved to be good for the club as the room is larger and brighter, with the staff and management of The Bridgehouse Hotel being friendly and helpful. The club now appears at the Battlegroup South show every year, running participation / demonstration games. Our aim is to introduce gamers to new systems, showing them that there is more to table top gaming then the usual systems played.
Outside of shows that the club visits, we are keen to spread the word concerning various systems, and will visit clubs to run demonstration games. One thing you will never find at the club is a closed mind to gaming, to us gaming is gaming no matter the system you play, it's about enjoying yourself and firing up the imagination.
So, what do we play? Well for starters there are members that are involved in the current systems:
- Warmachine
- Hordes
- Warhammer 40,000
- Warhammer
- Fields of Glory
- War of the Rings
- Rules of Engagement
- Poor Bloody Infantryman
- Flames of War
- Infinity
- Hell Dorado
- Malifaux
- Confrontation 3 & 4
- AT43
- Urban War
- Monster Apocolypse
- Metropolis
- Uncharted Seas
- Flintloque
- Slaughterloo
- Epic
- A Very British Civil War
- Hammer Slammers
- Pirates

This is just the stuff that I know about, but I know that there are more systems played, including RPG's.
So if this has piqued your interest why not pop on down for a chat? Members are always happy to demonstrate a gane and who knows you may find something that you like :o)
